Racing Santander vs Villarreal, 16 August 2026, La Liga: form, head-to-head and match facts

Racing Santander’s home draw with Villarreal ended in a lively 2‑2 finish, leaving the Cantabrian side still perched in tenth place with seven points from five matches. Their record of two wins, one draw and two defeats is mirrored by a perfectly balanced goal tally of nine for and nine against. Villarreal, meanwhile, remain stuck in the relegation zone at eighteenth, having collected only two points after two goalless stalemates and two losses, and their defensive frailties are evident in the eight goals they have conceded. The two clubs have already met once this campaign, a goalless encounter that also produced a draw, so the points shared in Santander will prove crucial for both sides as the season unfolds.
