Liverpool vs Sunderland, 2 December 2026, Premier League: form, head-to-head and match facts

Liverpool host Sunderland in what promises to be a decisive clash in the lower half of the table. The Reds sit seventh with six points from four games, having scored six and conceded four, while Sunderland languish 14th on four points, their tally of three goals for and five against underscoring a leaky defence. A win would see Liverpool close the gap on the European spots, whereas Sunderland will need all three points to keep any hope of climbing out of the relegation‑watch zone. Historically the two sides have met sparingly this season, making the encounter an intriguing test of Liverpool’s consistency against a side desperate for a turnaround. Both teams will be keen to convert their modest point hauls into a clear statement before the winter break.
